Steve Ditko

If you get the chance, watch “In Search of Steve Ditko“. Really, Watch it. It’s not turned up on YouTube yet, but if it does I’ll post a link here. It’s the best, and most honest thing Jonathan Ross has ever done on TV. For anyone interested in the language of comics, the manner in which words and pictures work together, or just an interest in the history of our culture, it ought to be a must.

It’s repeated at 12.30am on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning, on BBC4.

Go on. You’ll thank me for it.

  1. If Ross manages to go fully five minutes without making a lazy, smutty innuendo gag this show will immediately become the best thing he’s done since Film 200___ (insert year) where they simply don’t stand for that sort of predictable, puerile crap and instead force him to kick his brain into gear. What gets me is that he’s clearly not stupid… so why spend so much time doing “jokes” that Barrymore would turn down for being a bit shit?

    I ask ye…

  2. I tells ya. No smut. No jokes. Just honest, genuine appreciation and a rather good documentary.

I’m saying nothing about Alan Moore’s singing though.
